How can the federal government work so quickly on Michael Vick and yet George Bush gets good men , women and probably dogs killed everyday with not even a 'by your leave'? And I say this not to mnitigate what Micheal Vick has done. Him and his dogfighting pals are reprehensible but it does seem our priorities are a wee bit askew here.

It doesn't really serve your point very well that you can't write a full sentence, but you're absolutely right. It's a problem of American society that we take countless kids from disadvantaged backgrounds, put them up on pedestals as role models and examples of righteous humanity, and then we relish in seeing them fall from grace. The only thing is, they never asked to be venerated...give a kid from the ghetto $100 million dollars and a long leash (no pun intended) and see how long it takes him to get into trouble. About a week. Most atheletes are no exception.

It's a product of our celebrity-obsessed culture, and this Mike Vick saga is just the latest incarnation of it. There's plenty of examples in the past decade or so since it's become incredibly rampant. See Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Kate Moss, Alex Rodriguez, etcetera etcetera ad nauseum.

The crime itself has very little to do with it.
